Blood, Urine, Stool & Swab Testing

From a simple “Full Blood Count” to a comprehensive set of tests for “Cancer Screening” or “Fertility”, we can carry out hundreds of different tests. From looking for infection to conducting a full panel of drug testing, we offer a vast selection of blood, urine, stool and swab tests for anyone who requires it.

Some of the most popular tests we carry out are Liver & Kidney Function, Thyroid Function, Diabetes, Iron Status, Sexual Health, Prostate Check and Lipid Profile (Cholesterol), but many hundreds of different tests are available.

At our clinics in Bournemouth and Dorchester we also provide the Trucheck Cancer Blood Test, which tests for over 70 types of cancer in its very early stages. Please click here for more details

Booking A Test

If you know which test(s) you require then you can simply contact us with the details and we will book you in for the test(s), without the need to see a doctor first. If you are unsure which tests you require, then we advise you have a GP consultation beforehand. Please see all the blood testing options below.

For children under 14, we have access to a paediatric phlebotomy service. Please contact us for more information.

Option 1 – Patient Requested Blood Tests with use of our laboratory

£40 phlebotomy fee PLUS the laboratory cost of the individual blood test(s).

If centrifuging of the blood is required (the majority do not need this) the phlebotomy fee is £70. The Centrifuging service is only available at our Bournemouth Clinic

This is for people who already know which blood test(s) they want to have. You can simply provide the name of the test(s) and we can tell you how much the laboratory cost is and then book you in. There is no doctor’s consultation with this option, and you do not need to be a registered patient or have seen one of our doctors beforehand.

A doctor will not be involved in the process, so we will not be able to advise you what time the test should be taken or whether you should fast first.

In addition to the £40 fee for taking the blood, each blood test is priced individually depending on the laboratory cost for analysis. When the results are sent to us, we directly email them to you. A doctor will not see the results or comment on them. The test result document will show you the exact figure per test and where it falls within the normal limits/parameters.

If you would like doctor’s advice once you have received your result, you can book a 20, 30 or 40 -minute GP consultation.

If you would like to know the cost of a specific blood test, please fill in the form at the bottom of this page or call 01202 761150  or email us

We use a private laboratory in London to carry out all of our blood testing. All the samples we collect are couriered directly to the laboratory every evening. Most results are available the next day, but some tests have a longer analysis time.

Option 2 – Just a blood draw required

£40 phlebotomy fee only. This is for people who have their own testing kit and do not need the use of our laboratory.

If centrifuging of the blood is required (the majority do not need this) the phlebotomy fee is £70. The Centrifuging service is only available at our Bournemouth Clinic

If you are having tests carried out by a different provider, then you can simply bring your blood test kit to our clinic for just the phlebotomy service. You will then take your completed blood kit with you.

Please ensure that you open your blood kit before you book an appointment as normally there are special instructions to follow for the tests. Some blood test kits require you to bring a frozen block for the return postage and some tests can only be carried out in the morning or on certain days of the week.

You will be responsible for sending the blood kit off to its destination and they will provide you with the results. However, if you require any advice regarding the results, we can arrange an appointment with a GP. A 20-minute GP appointment is priced at £93.

Please fill in the enquiry form below or call us on 01202 761150 or email

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

How much do the tests cost?

The cost of each test is determined by what the laboratory charge us for carrying out their analysis. The laboratory can carry out hundreds of different tests and all tests can be carried out individually or tests can be grouped together. Tests which are grouped together are called “Profiles” and this can work out cheaper than having certain tests carried out on their own. An example of different test prices are as follows:

A General Well Person Blood Test Profile – £49. This includes the following:

  • Full Blood Count
  • Liver Function
  • Kidney Function
  • Glucose
  • Iron
  • Bone Markers
  • Cardiac/Muscle Enzymes
  • Triglycerides
  • Cholesterol – Good/Bad Fats

If you wanted to add Thyroid and Ferritin to the above Profile, the cost would be £88. If you then added Vitamin D, the cost is £91.

There are many different “Profiles” available. Please tell us which tests you need and we will make sure we select the right one for you in the most cost effective way.

All tests can be carried out individually, please see a selection below for their prices:

  • Diabetes blood test (HbA1C) – £33
  • Liver Function blood test – £33

Do I need to be a registered patient?

As we are a private clinic, you do not need to be registered with us. You can simply book an appointment as and when you would like one. At the time of booking we take some contact information and then send you a form to complete. The form will ask you for some brief health and medical details and it will explain more about the appointment you have booked.

We store your contact information and test results on our secure system. We do not pass your information to any 3rd parties and we will not email you with any clinic updates unless you give your permission.

We are not linked to any NHS systems, so we do not have access to any of your NHS records. This also means we do not automatically send your NHS surgery any details about your visit to our clinic, (unless you request us to specifically let your surgery know).

You can book a one off appointment with us or use us on a regular basis. For blood testing appointments, we do not take payment until after the appointment.

If you have requested the tests yourself, we will email the results directly to you as soon as they come back to us from the laboratory. If you would prefer to not have them sent by email, we can arrange an alternative way.

You will be sent a laboratory document which shows your exact result as well as indicating where your result falls within normal parameters for your age and gender. If your result is abnormal, it will show in red.

You are free to do what you would like with the results. You can show your NHS doctor or seek advice from anywhere else. If you would like to see one of our doctors, you can make an appointment quickly and easily.

Our clinics are based in Bournemouth and Dorchester.

Our Bournemouth clinic at 7 Poole Road, BH2 5QR is open Monday to Friday and we have blood test appointments available most days during the hours of 8.30am until 5.30pm.

Our Dorchester Clinic at Middlemarsh Street, Poundbury, DT1 3FD is open on Tuesday and Thursdays.

Appointments need to be made for blood and swab testing, but we can make arrangements to send you test kits for urine or stool testing. You can drop the  completed sample back to our clinic so that it is taken by courier to the laboratory, or you can use the pre-paid packaging to post the sample to the lab.

Most blood samples which are couriered to the lab will have the test results sent back to us the next day. Some tests have a turn around time which is longer, but we will let you know this. Stool, urine and swab test results tend to take a bit longer than blood testing.

Some specialised tests such as genetic testing can take a few weeks to come back.

When you are booked in for a blood test, we advise you drink 2-3 litres of water before the appointment time. This makes it easier to carry out the blood test.

If you are nervous or a clinician has had difficulty taking your blood in the past, please let us know.

If you are nervous, you can have another person come in with you and we can make arrangements for you to lay down if you prefer.

If you are a person that is tricky to take blood from, please let us know so that we can ensure we select a clinician with experience in taking blood from different areas of the body or in different ways.

As a general rule, we say we can carry out blood testing on children aged 14 and above. If you have a child who is not nervous or has had a blood test before and they are under 14, please contact us.

For babies and children under 14, we can put you in contact with a paediatric phlebotomy service. This service provides highly trained nurses who will visit your home to carry out the testing. Prices start at £70 for the home visit depending on where you live. We arrange to send all of the testing kit to your home and will provide the results of the tests. There is an administration fee of £25 to us and we will charge the laboratory cost of the tests you require for your child.

Please call or email us for more information.
